Marja Ahti is a Swedish-Finnish sound artist working in composition, installation and cross-disciplinary collaborative performance. Working with field recordings, feedback, texturally oriented acoustic sound and electronic shapes and shades, she investigates the borderland where sounds mirror each other and communicate. She creates precise musical narratives with slowly mutating textures of detailed acoustic sound and intuitively tuned sustained tones and shapes, often on the brink of collapse, collision or feedback. Her music unfolds in a poetic realm between the acousmatic and the documentaristic, hovering between abstraction and the deeply familiar.
