Safety&equality
SAFETY
Flow Festival is committed to forwarding the principles of justice, equity and equality. Everyone is welcomed to the festival as they are, and we tolerate no form of discrimination. We expect our entire staff, as well as our associates and distributors, to adhere to the same values. Flow is known as a safe festival, but we recognize the challenges involved with events with large crowds. Together with the festival-goers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, we create an event everyone can attend safely. Securitas Oy is responsible for the security of the festival area.
EQUALITY
Flow Festival is committed to forwarding justice, equity, and equality principles. Everyone is welcomed to the festival just as they are, and we tolerate no form of racism, ableism, sexual harassment or discrimination. We expect our entire staff, as well as our associates and distributors, to adhere to the same values. If you yourself encounter or witness the aforementioned issues, report the matter immediately to the nearest security officer or to Flow Festival’s info.
HEALTH SAFETY
In the festival area, we pay special attention to the health safety of our customers and staff. Flow Festival undertakes to follow the current guidelines of the authorities and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. There are several hand washing points in the festival area equipped with soap and hand sanitizer. Face masks are available at the info point free of charge. Staff and restaurants are instructed to follow common safety and hygiene guidelines. Please only participate in Flow Festival if you are healthy.
MEHILÄINEN: PÄÄASIA-LOUNGE
Mehiläinen Pääasia-lounge is a place where you are welcome to calm down and catch your breath for a while, or to get mental support from Mehiläinen’s mental health professionals for various situations and emotions you might encounter at the festival. Pääasia-lounge is a safe space where you can discuss any important matter. At the lounge, Mehiläinen’s employees will also direct you to first aid if necessary. Pääasia-lounge also offers the opportunity to relax independently or with the help of various exercises guided by professionals. Pääasia-lounge is a space open to everyone and for free of charge, which is located in the Main Stage area and is open throughout the Flow Festival. In addition to the Pääasia-lounge, Mehiläinen’s experts walk around the festival area, and you can also get discussion help from the roving patrol for your needs during the festival.
We at Flow Festival pay special attention to preventing and handling possible harassment and other problematic situations. We want to create a memorable festival experience for everyone and an atmosphere where everyone is safe to be themselves. If you experience or see disturbing or unpleasant behavior, immediately contact a security guard. If you want to talk about the experience, you can get help from the Mehiläinen Pääasia-lounge.
ROUTES AND POSSIBLE DANGEROUS SITUATIONS
The routes are kept open, and the festival area is spacious, so overcrowding and bottlenecks do not form. Together with the security personnel, we monitor the situation and, if necessary, make changes to the festival area and policies. We are prepared for a wide range of possible dangerous situations, and we inform the audience about the operating instructions, if necessary, with screen texts, stage hosting, through Flow’s mobile application and social media channels. If you notice any security flaws in Flow, please report them to the nearest security person or to office AT flowfestival.com.
QUESTIONS ABOUT SAFETY AND FIRST AID
In case of any questions about the safety of the festival area and other possible matters, such as experiencing or witnessing distressing or inappropriate behavior, you can approach the nearest member of the safety personnel. You can turn to the security personnel in yellow vests for all questions related to the security of the festival area and other problematic situations. If necessary, the customer can also go to the first aid station located near Kattilahalli, where the first aid workers of the Finnish Red Cross are trained to respond to a wide variety of situations and, if necessary, also provide emotional first aid. In addition, SPR’s first aid workers and SPR’s preventive substance abuse care workers walk around the festival area. Flow info volunteers, who can be identified by their pink info vests, also help in the area. You can ask them about everything about the festival, and you can also get earplugs and face masks from them.
