AlogteOho&HisSoundsofJoy
Balloon 360°Born to a Frafra father and an Akim mother, Alogte Oho grew up in the rainforest of southern Ghana before moving up to the land of the Frafra in the savannah of northern Ghana as a young boy. Growing up in Namoo, his father’s village of origin, he was deeply impressed by the glorious moments he experienced during the services at the village church. All that singing and drumming ensured he was the first at church every Sunday, long before the service started. At thirteen, Alogte was old enough to join the church choir.
Alogte started his career as a Frafra-Gospel artist, released his debut album in 2007 and made his first national breakthrough in 2012 with the hit single Mam Yinne Wa. In 2013 Alogte met with the acclaimed German drummer and record label boss Max Weissenfeldt, who released the single Zota Yinne on his Philophon label. The song became a hit in Reggae sound system circles, but the success of the re-recorded version of Mam Yinne Wa finally made Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy a global player.
