Balloon 360°A legendary voice in reggae history and undisputedly one of the most respected and influential singers in Jamaica, Horace Andy has maintained his untainted voice for over five decades.
Known for his distinctive falsetto vocal style, Horace Andy has sung on many classic productions for reggae producers such as Coxsone Dodd, Phil Pratt, King Tubby, Lloyd ‘Bullwackie’ Barnes, Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee, and Prince Jamm. Horace Andy started his career in 1967 when he recorded his first single, This Is A Black Man’s Country, for producer Phil Pratt. In the early ’70s, he started to record for Coxsone Dodd, which resulted in Studio One classics such as Skylarking, Every Tongue Shall Tell, and Mr. Bassie.
With his voice immortalised across all five of Massive Attack’s studio albums, his dub sound has become fully embedded into the wider world, whilst his incendiary live show also continues to garner him plenty of new fans and admirers today.
Horace Andy has remained at the forefront of the roots-reggae community, with the release of his 2022 LP, Midnight Rockers, seeing a staggering 5-star review from The Guardian, and being invited to host a live performance on NPR Music’s beloved Tiny Desk series.
