Maustetytöt-Tulitikkutehtaantyttö

Main Stage
15:30

Known for their catchy and laconic indie hits, Maustetytöt has become one of Finland’s most loved cult bands in recent years. The band, formed by sisters Kaisa and Anna Karjalainen, has managed to convince fans of indie as well as the mainstream audience with their distinctive music. Maustetytöt already became a small phenomenon with their first single, Tein kai lottorivini väärin (I guess I got my lottery numbers wrong) in 2019. Since then, the band has released two albums and last year, an EP with the legendary Finnish rock band Agents. Their new album Maailman onnellisin kansa (World’s Happiest Nation) is produced by renowned Finnish electronic music producer Vladislav Delay, and the band will feature in director Aki Kaurismäki’s new film Dead Leaves. In their special Flow Festival gig, Maustetytöt will perform the new album in its entirety.

The worlds of Maustetytöt and Aki Kaurismäki collide when the music of Maustetytöt is paired with Kaurismäki’s 1990 classic film, which will be screened in its entirety during the gig. The beautiful and sorrowful visuals of “The Match Factory Girl” harmoniously blend with Maustetytöt’s music, creating a powerful redefinition of Finnish melancholy.
