Moderat
Silver ArenaBerlin’s alternative electronic music scene was strong in the early 2000s. Apparat (Sascha Ring) and Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary), who were among the most respected artists of the scene, became close friends and started to make music together as Moderat. Having only released one EP in 2003, Moderat was thought to remain a short-term project, while Modeselektor toured the world with Radiohead, and Apparat rose to global fame with its own albums. Six years after their first EP, Moderat finally released their highly acclaimed debut album in 2009. Following the rapturous response to their first album, Moderat released the soberly titled II in 2013. The album kicked off a frantic few years, with Sascha, Szary and Gernot touring the globe and each new Moderat single seemingly making a bigger impact than the last. A third album, III, was released in 2016. In 2017 the band announced that they would be on a long hiatus, performing their farewell concert in Berlin in front of 17,000 people. After a five-year hiatus, in 2022, Moderat returned with their stylish fourth full-length More D4ta.
