A long farewell: Flow Festival will be held in Suvilahti in 2024
The City of Helsinki has announced delays in the planned construction schedules for Suvilahti. Due to the delays, Flow Festival will be arranged in Suvilahti still in August 2024. The plans for the festival from 2025 onward remain open.
Flow Festival announced in April that it would be its last year in its current festival site of Suvilahti. The reason for the departure was the expanding construction work of the site, making a large-scale event of Flow's volume impossible to arrange there. However, in the summer of 2023, the City of Helsinki announced a delay in construction due to complaints made against the zoning.
The festival’s artistic director Tuomas Kallio explains: “After finding out the construction would be pushed forward, we began to examine the situation again concerning Flow. As the matter is now confirmed, we are delighted to announce that Flow’s era in Suvilahti will continue, and the festival will be celebrated there still in 2024”.
From 2025 on, the plans remain open. “Suvilahti will undergo major changes during the next few years, so this is only an extension for us. We get to say a long farewell, so to speak, to the place we’ve grown and built Flow Festival as a beloved event to many and an integral part of the cultural atmosphere of Helsinki”, Kallio summarises.
Flow Festival takes place at Suvilahti, Helsinki, on the 11th–13th of August, 2023. The festival will host around 150 artists. Acts include Lorde, Blur, Wizkid, Kaytranada, Christine & The Queens, Tove Lo, Devo, Pusha T, Caroline Polachek, Suede, Moderat, and many more.
