Flow culminated to a spectacular Sunday
Nearly 90,000 festivalgoers gathered at Helsinki's Suvilahti to enjoy a weekend filled with international and domestic top artists, art, and urban culture. The audience also had the opportunity to indulge in the Flow Talks speaker program throughout the weekend, a comprehensive sustainable dining selection, and the enchanting atmosphere of the unique Suvilahti area.
The most anticipated moment of the day was the performance of the legendary Britpop band Blur, who have just returned to concert stages this summer after an eight-year hiatus. The band's hit songs from over the years, new tracks from their recent album, and an intense stage show mesmerised the audience on a darkening August evening on Flow Festival’s Main Stage. Indie-pop trailblazer Caroline Polachek brought her genre-defying sound to Main Stage, accompanied by captivating visuals and a charismatic stage presence. French sensation Christine and the Queens exploded onto Silver Arena with an unforgettable performance, where the singer, also known as a dancer and choreographer, gave a performance of a lifetime.
Performing on Flow's unique landmark stage, Balloon 360°, the alternative K-pop band Balming Tiger had the audience dancing wildly, while DOMi & JD Beck charmed with their virtuosic progressive jazz and the reggae and dub legend Horace Andy and his band created a magical atmosphere on the stage.
Flow's newest club venue, X Garden, kept the festival crowd dancing throughout the weekend. Helsinki's most intriguing club concepts, U-Haul, Club Zero, and Korgy, provided diverse vibes in the space. The stage featured some of the most exciting DJs of the moment, including C.FRIM, Yung Sherman, and DJ Heartstring.
Additionally, the festival offered a diverse and responsible food selection throughout the weekend. The Sustainable Meal panel on Sunday selected the festival's most sustainable and delicious dish, marking a fitting conclusion for the weekend's culinary experiences. This year the winner was Loi Loi with its dish Mapu Tofu Loaded Nuggets. The esteemed panellists choosing the winner were environmental advocate Ami Värtö, food journalist Hanna Hurtta and responsibility expert Noora Shingler.
The Flow Talks program concluded on Sunday with Flow Talks Sustainability. Thomas Kolster’s keynote and the following discussion with deputy mayor of Helsinki Anni Sinnemäki, communications expert Anu Ubaud and environmental artist Thijs Biersteker drew a crowd to hear about the role of individuals, communities and corporations in advancing more sustainable lifestyles.
