The Other Sound x Sun EffectsFlow Festival and YouTube, together with Musiikkiala.fi arrange a panel discussion on the internationalisation of the Finnish music industry. The discussion seeks concrete solutions on how the domestic music industry, worth nearly a billion euros, could grow even bigger. Where will we find the spark and talent to conquer the international market? Furthermore, how can different actors in the creative industries, from the music industry to platforms and legislators, support the endeavours for global success? The panel will include influential figures of the Finnish music industry and high-level political decision-makers.

The panellists are:
Sari Multala, Minister of Science and Culture
Sari Multala, in addition to her current position as the Minister of Science and Culture, has worked in the Finnish Parliament, serving on the Education and Culture Committee as well as the Environment Committee during her three-term career as a Member of Parliament. Multala holds a Master’s degree in Economics. Prior to her political career, she competed in sailing, winning three World Championships and later serving as the head coach of the Finnish sailing team.
Nasima Razmyar, Member of Parliament, Chairperson of the Finnish Music Foundation
Nasima Razmyar is an Afghan–born Finnish politician. She is a Member of Parliament, the chairperson of the Finnish Music Foundation and the former Deputy Mayor of Education and Culture of the City of Helsinki. Razmyar holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Management.
Mikko Manninen, Executive Director of Music Finland
Mikko Manninen has had a long career in the domestic record label industry, including serving as the General Manager for Warner Music Finland’s Baltic operations and as the Chief Operating Officer for its Finnish operations. He currently serves as the Executive Director of Music Finland. Manninen holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration.
Heidi Jern, Government Affairs & Public Policy Manager Google/YouTube
Heidi Jern is in charge of Government Affairs and Public Policy for Google in Finland. Previously she has worked for the European Commission and in the European Parliament. She holds a master’s degree in International Law and International Organizations.
Teemu Brunila, singer-songwriter, musician
Teemu Brunila is a Finnish singer, musician, and composer-lyricist, whose international songwriting career has been hailed as the most significant in Finland. Brunila is the first Finnish artist in history who has made music on an album that reached the top of the Billboard chart. Brunila gained recognition as the lead vocalist of The Crash and has written music for various artists, including JVG, David Guetta, and Trey Songz.
