The Other Sound x Sun EffectsFlow Talks Sustainability: keynote and discussion
The climate emergency calls for urgent action from everyone: the corporate world, national and local governments, and individual citizens alike. In this Flow Talks session, we will explore how we all can do our part. The session is hosted by Thomas Kolster, an ex-advertising guy on a mission to create change. Kolster is a frontrunner and one of the most recognised thinkers globally where marketing, business and sustainability meet. He continuously challenges the status-quo with his vocal, and often provocative, views on values, purpose, and leadership.
In his keynote, Thomas Kolster shares the dirty tricks of the corporate world and his insights on where the climate agenda is heading and what companies are doing and not doing. More importantly, he’ll make you think about your role as a citizen and as a consumer and give you tangible advice on how you can make your voice heard and push companies to do more.
In the following panel discussion, Kolster will be joined by three top experts:
Anni Sinnemäki, Deputy Mayor of Helsinki,
Anu Ubaud, co-founder of United Imaginations, a value-driven branding and communications agency, and
Thijs Biersteker, ecological artist specializing in interactive installations about climate change, ocean plastic, pollution and nature
The discussion focuses on the role cities, brands, media, creative people and the arts community can play in creating change. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire you to take action in small and big ways.
The discussion is held in Finnish and arranged together with the City of Helsinki.
Sustainable Meal panel
Flow has offered a wide selection of vegetarian, vegan, and environmentally friendly dishes for years, and the festival has once again provided its restaurants with Sustainable Meal training to support sustainable development. Each restaurant serves a special, ecologic Sustainable Meal portion. Based on the ecological evaluation and panel tasting by food experts, one dish will be declared the Sustainable Meal Winner.
This year’s panellists are responsibility expert Noora Shingler, food journalist and chef Hanna Hurtta, and environmental advocate Ami Värtö. Presented at the panel, the finalist dishes are Loi Loi with their dish Mapo Tofu Loaded Nuggets, The Glass with their dish Grilled finnish white cabbage and potato-herb salad with vegan aioli, and Satama’s Taco Bar with their dish Satama’s Colourful Vegan “Chicken” Taco.
The panel takes place on Sunday at the festival area’s Wine Garden at 3.30 pm.
